Cookies and browser storage

Cookies are small text files that a website stores in your browser and that are sent back to it with later requests. Local storage keeps small pieces of data on your device and does not send them to the website automatically. PingWinWin uses both for sessions, preferences, analytics choices, and analytics:

The temporary preview creates no guest session, cookie or persistent preview identifier; its input and result stay only in the open page's memory.

• Session and choice storage — the access token keeps an account or guest session; browser flags help the site check which session may be active; a local entry remembers your separate analytics choice.
• Preferences — local storage remembers the theme and currency you choose.
• Analytics — optional and used only after you accept analytics.

Local storage is not automatically exempt from consent rules just because it stays in your browser. The legal classification of each item can depend on the laws that apply where you use the site. We describe each item’s purpose here and do not claim a blanket exemption for every browser-storage entry. Analytics remains separate from Guest Terms acceptance. PingWinWin does not use advertising cookies. Some pages contain affiliate links; the affiliate network or destination site may set its own cookies. The accessToken cookie carries your signed session. The pingwinwin-auth and pingwinwin-guest entries are hints, not credentials; theme and currency are optional preferences; the analytics-choice entry remembers your separate choice. We have not established that every browser-storage item is strictly necessary or exempt from consent under every law that may apply.

The temporary preview does not store trip inputs or results in cookies, local storage or session storage; its data stays in page memory only.

Session and choice cookies and storage

• accessTokenCookie · set by our API server · account cookie expiry follows its configured token lifetime (currently described as 24 hours); legacy guest cookie expires after 30 daysKeeps an account session or a guest session created before temporary previews available to the browser. The preview does not set or use this cookie. It contains a signed session token, is httpOnly, is sent to our API, and is not sent to Google Analytics. Signing in or registering with an existing guest session replaces its token with the account token; deleting that guest session clears it.
• pingwinwin-authCookie and local storage · set by the website · the cookie expires after 24 hours; local-storage flag remains until cleared or the session is found invalidA simple flag with no name, email address, account identifier, or credential. The cookie helps the website choose an initial page for a likely signed-in account; the local-storage copy tells the browser whether to check the server for a session. It is only a hint: the API validates the real session. It is renewed during successful session checks and cleared on sign-out or when the session is invalid.
• pingwinwin-guestLocal storage · set by the website for a legacy guest session · no expiryA simple flag with no name, email address, guest identifier, or credential. It tells this browser to check the API for a pre-existing guest session. It is only a hint; the API validates the session. The temporary preview does not create or set this flag. It is not sent to our server automatically and is cleared when the session is invalid, deleted, or linked to an account.
• pingwinwin-consentLocal storage · set by the website · no expiryRemembers whether you accepted or rejected analytics. It is not a cookie and is not sent to our servers. If it is deleted, or is no longer valid, the site asks for your choice again.

Preference cookies and storage

These entries are set whether or not you accept analytics, and they are not used for analytics.

Analytics cookies (optional)

These cookies are set only after you accept analytics. If you reject analytics, or have not answered yet, they are not set.

• _ga_YJR7GCF4ZWCookie · Google Analytics · set on pingwinwin.com · expiry set by GoogleKeeps track of your current visit (session) for our Google Analytics property.
• visitorIdCookie · set by our server (api.pingwinwin.com) · expires after 24 hoursHolds a random identifier so that our own visit counter counts your browser at most once in 24 hours. It is not linked to your account, cannot be read by scripts on the page and is sent only over encrypted connections.

Your analytics choice

On your first visit, a banner asks whether you accept analytics. “Accept analytics” and “Reject analytics” are equally prominent, and nothing is measured unless you accept. If you reject, Google Analytics is not loaded, our visit counter is not used and no analytics cookies are set. Your choice is remembered in the browser you made it in, so it applies to that browser and device only.

You can change your choice at any time with “Cookie settings” at the bottom of every page. If you withdraw your consent by choosing “Reject analytics”:

• Google Analytics stops sending data from this site and is not loaded again unless you accept analytics later;
• our visit counter is no longer used;
• analytics cookies that were already set are not deleted immediately. The Google Analytics cookies stay in your browser until they expire or you delete them, and the visitorId cookie expires within 24 hours of being set. While analytics is rejected, they are not used to send analytics data from this site.

To remove these cookies straight away, delete this site’s cookies in your browser settings.

Managing cookies in your browser

Most browsers let you view, block and delete cookies and other site data. Deleting the necessary cookies signs you out, and blocking them prevents you from staying signed in. Deleting local storage resets your preferences and your analytics choice, and the site will then ask for your analytics choice again. Deleting the cookie of a guest session ends your access to it; its trips stay on our servers until the session is deleted automatically, but you can no longer reach them from that browser.

A temporary itinerary preview stays only in the open page’s memory. Refreshing or closing the page discards it; PingWinWin has no saved preview trip or itinerary to recover.

Content from other websites

Some pages may show images hosted on other websites, such as photos of local guides, and some links take you to other services, such as Google Maps or social networks. Those websites may set or read their own cookies under their own policies, which PingWinWin does not control.

Changes and contact
